Get Ready For A Winter Break
Posted by Depressed - 15/04/10 at 09:04 amIf you use all your vacation time in the summer you can miss out on one of the greatest vacations of the year. Many people need a winter break just as much as they do in the summer. Planning and packing for a ski vacation can make the trip even more fun.
While there are many people who are able to take a one-day ski vacation and be back home at work the next day, others must plan to take a few days to travel to a resort for skiing. Either way, without the correct equipment, your winter vacation can become a miserable experience.
The importance of protecting your head while skiing cannot be overemphasized enough. A Giro ski helmet or other approved ski helmet will protect your head if an accident occurs. You do not want this time of fun to turn into a tragedy with a serious brain injury or death.
It is easy to lose track of time when on the slopes and enjoying yourself. On overcast days when fresh snow is falling you can completely lose track of the time. When you are packing be sure to grab your black sport watch. The waterproof feature of the watch will protect it from all the moisture and snow and it will help you to meet your group at the correct time.
When the day on the slopes is over and you are ready for a night on the town, you will appreciate the fact that you packed your brown boots. You will not have wet feet from all the melted snow. In addition, you can keep your feet warm in the coldest of conditions. If you have a boot drier available, be sure that you keep your boots on in for the night.
Skiing calls for plenty of warm waterproof clothing. These will help keep you both warm and dry each day. Nylon jackets and ski bibs repel the moisture of the snow and can easily be dried overnight so they are ready for the next day.
Make sure that you have your skis tuned up and serviced before you leave town. You will often find a better price on service and you are not going to be out of commission while waiting for skis to be worked on in the shop.
If you are having a difficult winter, consider taking time for a winter break. The time on the slopes is great exercise and everyone can use the fresh air and sunshine that are often a part of skiing.
